The Garden of Gethsemane is a place of sorrow, obedience and love, where Jesus struggles to come to terms with what lies ahead. In his sorrow, Jesus asks his friends for support, for their prayers and protection. Instead they fall asleep. Three times. Alone and begging God for another way besides death, Jesus surrenders his will, his body, his soul to God. He makes a conscious choice of obedience. The ultimate act of love. This is our Saviour. This is our King. For the joy set before him, he endured the cross. Though we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
