When I first read this passage, I felt a great sense of sadness. Jesus predicted his own death, which he knew would happen within days of his entering Jerusalem. He knew that entering Jerusalem would be the point of no return. He knew that clearing the temple would only hasten events. But it was imperative that all things were made right. He was faithful to the Father, and his people. This was an act of true love. True love takes courage. The kind of courage that can only come from God. I now feel a great sense of joy, knowing that I am loved. I know I can have confidence that God’s love will never cease. Lord, you are my strength. I can love because of you. I want to be faithful to you forever. Amen.
