Mid-Year Leadership Selah

"Be still and know that I am God." – Psalm 46:10

As we reach the halfway point of the year, this is a great time to pause, reflect, and realign with what God is doing in and through your Connect Group. Whether this has been a fruitful season, a stretching one, or a mix of both—take this moment to slow down and listen.

Part 1: Reflection for Your Connect Group

A. Look Back (Jan–June)

  • What am I most thankful for in my Connect Group this year?

  • Where have I seen God move—in people’s lives, in our conversations, in unexpected ways?

  • What challenges did we face, and how did God show up in the midst of them?

  • What have I learned about God, people, and myself as a leader?

B. Take Stock (Now)
Reflect on your CG using this year’s vision: Discipleship as a space for God to move.

1. Thriving Community
Are we fostering safe spaces for authenticity, vulnerability, and mutual care?

  • One moment that shows this

  • One thing we can improve

2. Transformational Discipleship
Are we creating space for the Holy Spirit to move through prayer, worship, and God’s Word?

  • One sign of transformation we’ve seen

  • One next step to go deeper

3. Empowered Leadership
Are people being activated in their gifts and stepping into roles of influence and servanthood?

  • Someone who’s grown

  • Someone to encourage further:

C. Look Ahead (July–Dec)

  • What is God inviting our group into in the next season? Is there a particular theme, focus or rhythm?

  • What’s one thing we can do to strengthen discipleship in our group?

  • Who can I raise up, empower, or invite into leadership?

  • What’s a “risk” that God might be prompting us to take?

Write down any impressions, Scriptures, or names that come to mind. Share with your zone leaders and core team.

Part 2: Personal Leadership Self-Evaluation

A. Who am I called to be?
Take time to pray: “Lord, who are You calling me to be in this season?” Write down the 3 most important traits God is highlighting for you as a connect group leader right now.

B. Self-Assessment
Rate yourself (1 = low, 10 = high), how much do you live up to those descriptions?

C. Growth Plan
What would help you increase each trait’s rating by 2 points in the next month?

  • What behaviours, habits, or mindsets do I need to invest in?

  • What is one “stretched” assignment or challenge I can take on to practice and grow in these?

Let this rhythm of Sabbath and reflection refill you. Remember: your role isn’t to carry the whole group, it’s to stay close to the Shepherd and follow His lead. Thank you so much for all that you do! May God keep shaping us into the leaders He’s calling us to be, and may He guide us as we create spaces where His Spirit can move, transform, and lead the way in our groups.
