How does our Christian faith play out in our work?

We wanted to know what our congregation felt about the balance of living out Christian values in their places of work across industries. To better understand their struggles and what it meant to find a workplace that matched their convictions.

HOPE FOR THE CITY IS:
Being able to incorporate faith into the workplace

  • The majority of HTBB’s community (51%) believe that their faith and work environment should be interconnected, while 81% of the community think it is vital to work in a job that aligns with their beliefs.

  • 89% of HTBB’s community feel comfortable expressing their beliefs in their workplace.

  • Meanwhile, 64% of the community strive to incorporate Christian principles into their work and daily life.

  • Interestingly, generational differences seem to influence workplace views.

    • Millennials indicate the strongest tendency to openly express their faith at work than the Gen Zs, Gen Ys, and Baby boomers.

    • Gen Zs and the older generations hold similar views on faith in the workplace.


HOPE FOR THE CITY IS:
Effectively navigating faith within challenging workplace scenarios

  • 95% of the HTBB community believe that their faith helps with difficult work relationships.

  • 64% of the community are comfortable expressing their Christian identity at work.

    • This also indicates that 36% of the HTBB community may have encountered difficulties for practicing Christian values in a challenging workplace scenario.

  • Nonetheless, there is strong agreement (91%) that when difficult situations arise, they have found their Christian beliefs to assist in dealing and solving those situations.

  • Notably, Millennials, constituting 36% of the total, were proportionally found to have a higher use of faith in challenging workplace situations - once again, consistently showing that this generation has the strongest tendency to express their faith at work.


HOPE FOR THE CITY IS:
Connecting faith with tangible actions

  • 90% of the community feel that HTBB supports the Great Commission and its role in practical Christian living.

  • Once again, the millennials are found to proportionally agree more that the church helps them apply their values to practical life - suggesting that this generation aims for a more profound integration of faith in their daily work lives.
